Reflection.Thoughts.Feelings
There were so many things to recall about the exploration I have had. I have gain various number of memorable experiences and new friendships from the crew. This has always been a pleasure for me; visiting new, extraordinary and unknown places likely to be reached by mankind. Striving to be acknowledged about the place we all called home “Earth”. An opportunity to break through the bounds of the imagination I have had and curious about what is like to be living, walking, sleeping in such a condition. The Arctic realm it is... One of the most extreme places mankind has ever set foot and now I have finally conquered it myself…
Talking about one of my best experiences in the arctic is when we had travelled to the cost and observe the wildlife for example Penguins, seals and polar bears. Few of the most fascinating animals on Earth. You can never imagine being into such an abbreviated distance, observing their lives, their adaptations, surviving on its own in such an intense environment, and how they think. You will never get anything like this except experiencing it all by yourself. Such a beautiful moment when you see penguins building their nets; preparing for the winter or seeing the sneaky ones stealing bits and pieces from the others. Mother polar bears feeding the young ones her breast milk, the small ones rolling down the hills or sticking their tiny heads into the ice until the mother had to drag them out and carried them in her mouth. These simple actions can leave you thinking about it, giggling gleefully all day and overwhelmed you with happiness. It’s just something you can't find everyday.
However, there are some moments that put us all in desperation. One of our nightmares is when we were trapped in a snowstorm. Its unpredictable living in this kind of environment, just a flicker of a finger and everything changes. Temperature can reach as low as -42 or more leaving us in pain or numb from coldness. A snow storm can last up to number of days. Its like you were standing on the line between living and death. There were once I went into a disaster with Dr.katastrophe, he had almost lost his leg. We were completely blinded at the paramount of the glacier, visibly are forever decreasing and all of our electronic devices and communication systems all went dead. We ended up setting a small shelter to live through the night luckily, we survived.
This is for the people who have never travelled before. First of all, living in the Arctic is not uncomplicated as you think. Spending lives being isolated from everything or even trapped I could say is something quite challenging to cope with. You cannot possibly predict when trouble will reached in. There are some levels of uncertainty depending under different circumstances. Well, I personally think that the arctic is such an alluring place to be in even though in the day all you could see is whiteness, hills and ice. However, the everything diverses at night times. Just close your eyes and imagine that you were lying on your bed facing the sky. Seeing the Northern Lights Bright, green, Aurora slithering along the graceful Arctic night sky. I have spent all my life living Bangkok, where the pollution is immensely heavy; barely I can count the stars I see with one hand. Millions of stars appeared, filling the midnight sky with luminescence and with that I could pick out all the constellations i’ve known in the Arctic. Such an exquisite view, hard to find elsewhere but only here.
I have learnt many things about the climate changes. The ice level is not at its balance and has decreased dramatically since our last visit a year ago. As we have known, global warming is one of our largest crisis today. So much have taken away from the Arctic. It is time we have to come to realisation and raise awareness for this occurrence. The Earth has given us too much and it is the time for us to give it back. We all need to spread the importance not just helping to save arctic but also its wildlife. We all arctic ambassadors have came to a conclusion that within a continuous existence of global warming, extinction of untouched wildlife species will soon came into an existence; erased from the Earth’s surface. We are in need of your help to raise awareness also helping us to find an approach to the reduction on our flawed man made Co2. We believe that if we all join hands and put our optimum effort together, we can make our world a better place to live in.
I really would recommended this to other young people who seeks for new and exciting experiences. Once you’ve been there, it is truly a paradise. There is no other place in the world can be compared with the Arctic.
